Katherine Perkins

Katherine June Perkins died July 4, 2011, at home in the care of her family and Le Royer Hospice. She was 89 years old.Born June 28, 1922, in Antigo, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Genevieve (Sanford) Boykins. She graduated with the Antigo High School class of 1940.On October 4, 1944 she married Kenneth Perkins in Antigo. He preceded her in death on December 13, 1985.She worked for the Langlade County Department of Social Services for 28 years, rising through the ranks of the department from clerk stenographer to income maintenance supervisor and administrative assistant, retiring in 1985. She also worked for Felix Zeloski Potato Farm doing the bookkeeping. Mrs. Perkins was an avid bridge player, a charter member along with her bridge partner, Phyllis Suick, of the original St Mary Bridge Marathon, now All Saints Bridge Marathon that has donated funds for the libraries at these schools for over 50 years.She enjoyed attending daily Mass, spending time with Dixie coffee buddies, traveling, and the occasional casino trip and was affectionately known as "Chocy" Nana to her great-grand children. Mrs. Perkins was a Langlade Hospital Volunteer and a Birthright volunteer.Mrs. Perkins is survived by a son, James (Sheryl), Antigo; grandchildren, Robert (Wendy) Perkins, Cuba City, Rebecca (Tom E.) Schultz, Stevens Point; Great-grandchildren, Katie Perkins and Hayden Schultz; sister, Phyllis Seis, Antigo; brother, James Boykins, Tucson, AZ and many nieces.Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Connie and brother-in-law Duane Behm, brother, Lloyd Boykins, sister-in-law, Dorothy Boykins and brother-in-law, Norm Seis.Funeral services will be Friday, July 8 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church. Father Charles Hoffmann will officiate.Visitation will be Friday, July 8 from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. in Hoffmann Hall at St. John Catholic Church.Entombment will follow the service at Queen of Peace Cemetery.In lieu of lowers the family requests memorials be made to LeRoyer Hospice, All Saints School or Lions Pride.The family would like to thank the Langlade Hospital staff, LeRoyer Hospice, especially Sisters Dee, Adele and Jean, Jackie Holbrook for the wonderful care given Katherine during the last days of her life. And thank you to Father Charlie for the many visits.
