Larry Eckelstafer, of Lake City, Arkansas died on Sunday, May 18, 2025. He was 88 years old. He was born on September 6, 1936, in Fort Worth, TX a son of the late Harold and Iva (Reimer) Eckelstafer. The family moved to Antigo in his youth where they dairy farmed.
He was a graduate of Antigo High School and went onto serve in the United States Airforce from August of 1954 until 1958. He was stationed in occupied Germany. Larry was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal, the Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He continued his service in the reserves until 1962.
Larry worked as an over the road truck driver and drove for Texaco.
Larry had many enjoyments in life including hunting, gardening, birdwatching, reading and classic country music. He and his wife, Kay, loved traveling and were blessed to travel to Europe and enjoy cruises as well.
In addition to his wife Kay, Larry is survived by his children: Michael (Kelly) Eckelstafer, Donald (Cindy) Eckelstafer, Daryl Eckelstafer, Denise (Keith) Friebel, Galien (Glenn) Bolton, 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and sister Patricia Eckelstafer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 wives: Beverly and Jan, an infant son Joseph and a granddaughter Brandi Eckelstafer.
A visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM at Elmwood Cemetery.
