Larry Flannery

Larry E. Flannery, formerly of Antigo, passed away on November 19, 2021 in Bayside, WI at Elizabeth Residence Assisted Living. He was 77 years old. Larry was born on November 30, 1943 in Pearson to the late Clarence and Violet (Hartman) Flannery. Larry graduated from Antigo High School in 1961. He went on to work as a route driver for Coca-Cola and Pepsi. He also worked for All-Car and American Motors. Larry was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Larry was passionate about sports. In high school, Larry was a member of the football team and the wrestling squad. He enjoyed fastpitch softball and traveled across the country playing for a number of teams, including All-Car and Marksmen. In his later years, Larry attended the yearly ISC and ASA softball tournaments and also coached girls’ high school fastpitch softball. He enjoyed talking sports with his friends including: Tim Young and Father Charlie Hoffman. Larry attended many Wisconsin area professional and collegiate sporting events in person and frequently took nieces and nephews to games with him. He enjoyed watching sports on television as well. Larry is survived by a sister, Donna Scheu of Bayside, WI as well as nieces and nephews; Kim Warg, Jeff Warg, Wendee Warg, Kevin Scheu (Terry), Julie Schilz (Carl), Darren Scheu (Angie), Jason Scheu (Jill) and nine great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Violet and Clarence Flannery, sister Pat Warg, brother-in law Russell Scheu, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral service for Larry will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 11:30am at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, with Pastor Dan Kohn officiating. A visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00-11:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pearson Cemetery. The funeral service will be live streamed on the Strasser-Roller Funeral Home Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Larry’s name can be made to the Antigo Parks and Recreation Department.
