Laurence E. Oliver

Laurence E. Oliver, of Wausau, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital at the age of 85. He was born Aug. 15, 1926 in the Town of Evergreen in Langlade County, to the late William and Nellie (Marshall) Oliver. He served in the US Army in World War II. On Nov. 24, 1956, he married Allegra DeRuyter at First Congregational Church in Antigo. She survives. Mr. Oliver was employed as a machinist at Case IH in Schofield and John Deere in West Bend. He also operated a dairy farm in the town of Hewitt. He enjoyed hunting. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Allegra, include 5 daughters, Marilyn (Cliff) Baur of Wausau, Donna (Mark) Hackbarth of Wausau, Christine Winscher of Wausau, Charlotte Wiederhoeft of Minocqua, and Carolyn (Tao) Le of Santa Ana, CA; 2 sons, Bill Oliver of Wausau, and Larry (Dawn) Oliver of Converse, TX; a sister, Virginia (Steve) Hepkema of Waukegan, IL; 13 grandchildren, Jason Baur, Jamie (Jacob) Hoover, Julia Hackbarth, Naomi Hackbarth, Dustin Memler, Kole Winscher, Kailye Winscher, Brian Le, Brandon Le, Andrew Le, Austin Oliver, Ryan Oliver, and Hunter Oliver; 3 great-grandchildren, Danielle DeLange, Christopher Hoover, and Lily Holbach In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Rose Bordeau, Lillian Muelleman, Marie Elliott, Jean Conn; and a brother, Vernon Oliver. A funeral service will take place at noon Friday, Jan. 20 at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, 504 Edison St. in Antigo. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home. Local veterans will perform military honors at the funeral home immediately following the service. Burial will take place at a later date at Hogarty Riverside Cemetery.
