Laverne "Bill" Larson

Our beloved Billy has gone to be with God. LaVerne “Bill” Larson passed away unexpectedly on October 17, 2024. Bill was born on January 18, 1953 in Antigo, Wisconsin to Bill and Alice Larson. He grew up on a farm on the Red River in Mattoon, Wisconsin. Bill was a farmer through and through. He farmed most of his life. Bill loved to watch things grow and gently take care of his land.

Bill leaves behind his beloved wife Darlene Larson, his daughter Tiffany Broeske (Justin Broeske), his step-children Joel Schneider (Kate McGrath), Leah Schneider (Josh Myers), Elyse Bataller-Schneider (Vanessa Quintana), his grandchildren Nicholas Schneider, Natalie Schneider, Emma Schneider, Ayden Larson, Adryana Harris, Lucia Bataller-Schneider, and Gabriel Bataller-Schneider, and his siblings Larry Larson (Carol Larson), Leanne Mews, Laurel Collins (Jesse Collins) and many nieces and nephews he loved deeply. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister Lynn Lierman, and brother-in-law Jim Mews.

Bill was a kind, gentle soul who loved deeply and unconditionally. He took seriously his responsibility to love people from all walks of life. He held John 3:16 close to his heart, because he believed we were put on this earth, not to judge people, but to accept people for who they are.

Bill’s favorite things to do were to go fishing with his nephews and friends on Riley Lake, garden with his wife, watch the birds, and travel to see his children and grandchildren. He was an avid reader who always had a book in his hands.

Bill brought so much kindness to the world. His presence made so many people’s lives better. Bill will be deeply missed, but we are sustained by the memories and profound impact he had on our lives.

A memorial service for Bill will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Calvary Lutheran Church at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jennifer Sosinski officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service at the church from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM.
