Lawrence "Larry" Hughes

Lawrence Bernard "Larry" Hughes, age 84, died Tuesday at Eastview Medical & Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Hughes was born February 24, 1927 in Oconto, WI to the late Ralph & Martha (Nonnenmacher) Hughes. Mr. Hughes served in the US Army during WWII. Mr. Hughes worked as a truck driver in the concrete business while living in Waukegan, IL. Upon retirement he came to Antigo. Mr. Hughes enjoyed tinkering with his truck, fishing, gardening, sightseeing and time with his grandchildren. Survivors include 2 daughters Dorothy (Duane) Apps of Wild Rose, WI and Kathleen (Gary) Bardelle of Idaho Falls, WI; 3 sons; Larry Hughes of Blackfoot, ID, Douglas Hughes of Shawano, WI, and Karry Hughes of CO; a daughter-in-law Tonya Hoffman of Hollister; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by a son-in-law Dennis Freeman and his good friend Linda Tenant. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until noon at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place at 12:15 PM at Elmwood Cemetery on Saturday with military honors.
