Linda M. Bintz died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at her home near Eagle River under the care of Dr. Kate Hospice and her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 65 years old. She was born December 31, 1947 in Antigo, daughter of Walter and Bernice (Hubatch) Wick. She married Larry Bintz on July 5, 1969 at St. John Lutheran Church in Polar. Larry survives and resides in the Eagle River area in summer, and Rio Grande Valley, Texas in winter. Mrs. Bintz was a homemaker, and she also operated the Wis-Key River Inn in Rhinelander along with her husband from 1998-2003. The family moved many times due to Larry's railroad employment, and over the years they resided in Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Chicago, Ontonagon, MI, and other places. The previous four years, they spent their winters in Texas. With each change, she did all the moving and made each new place a real home for her family. Mrs. Bintz was smart and hard-working, and she even oversaw the building of their log home in Hubertus. She enjoyed wildlife, and she was often feeding the ducks and fishing. She loved family gatherings, and they will remember her big fish fries where they would all get together. She and her father cleaned all the fish for the family. Survivors, in addition to her husband and parents, include 2 sons, Chad (Wendy) Bintz of West Bend, and Craig (Amy) Bintz of West Bend; 2 sisters, Shirley (Jerry Bula) Tatro of Antigo, and Laurie (Bill) Scheurer of Three Lakes; a brother, Calvin (Mary) Wick of Antigo; 6 grandchildren, Amanda, Stephanie, Paige, Amber, Trenton, and Hallie Grace; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John and Ida Hubatch; paternal grandparents, Arvid and Dorothy Wick; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bill and Ethel Bintz. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, with Rev. Nancy Richmond officiating. Visitation will be 11:00-1:00 Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials to the family will be directed to the fight against cancer.
