Loraine Louise Hunter, age 98, of Antigo died Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Evergreen Terrace. Loraine was born in Antigo on August 19, 1920 to Walter and Louise (Schuman) Boettcher. She was baptized September 12, 1920 and confirmed May 20, 1934 at Peace Lutheran Church. She was a 1938 graduate of Antigo High School. On June 21, 1941 she was united in marriage to Thomas H. Hunter at Peace Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death March 6, 1974. She was a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church, where she was a member of its Dorcas Society, Altar Guild, LWML and the choir. She was also an active member of the Woman's Club of Antigo and the Bass Lake Country Club ladies organization. She also volunteered at Eastview Nursing Home. Loraine began her working career as a private secretary for Dr. Zellmer, the president of Peoples Bank. She also did bookkeeping for Hunters Supermarket and Antigo Flour and Feed. Survivors include sons; Robert (Nancy) and Thomas Lee (friend Linda Bauknecht), daughter-in-law; Jane Hunter and a very special friend Susan Heinrich, grandchildren; Michele (Tim) Schulteis, Chad (Michele) Hunter, Michael T. (Amanda) Hunter, Jason (Carol) Hunter, Jed (Kristy) Hunter, John (Jessica Filbrandt) Hunter, Brian (Rachel) Hunter, Tana Hunter, great grandchildren; Caleb Hunter, Zachary Phyle, Thomas, Julia and Andrew Schulteis, Caitlin and Jackson Hunter, Sara and Brooklyn Hunter and Veronica and Evelyn Hunter. In addition to her husband and parents, Loraine was preceded in death by a son Michael and her brother Eugene Boettcher. Loraine was an exemplary Christian woman of faith who truly loved and cared for her family and friends. The family thanks the staff at Evergreen Terrace and LeRoyer Hospice for the excellent care she was given during her final days. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 26 at 12:00 noon at Peace Lutheran Church. Visiation will be Friday at the church from 10:00 AM until the service. Reverend David Karolus and Reverend William Volm will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Loraine's name may be directed to Peace Lutheran Ministry Expansion Fund. Strasser-Roller Funeral Home is assisting the family.
