Loretta I. Amburgy died Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at her home in Antigo at the age of 85. She was born May 10, 1928 in Gages Lake, IL, daughter of the late Carl and Iva (Lane) Quist. She married Thomas Amburgy on Sept. 4, 1948 in Gurnee, IL. Mr. Amburgy preceded her in death on May 23, 2008. Mrs. Amburgy graduated from high school in Libertyville, IL. Before residing with her daughter in Antigo, she lived in Summit Lake, Milwaukee, Green Bay, La Crescenta, CA, and several areas of Illinois. Mrs. Amburgy worked in sales, and also owned Amburgy's Café in Summit Lake. During their time in Summit Lake, the Amburgys were instrumental in starting Gospel Truth Assembly, which became Northwoods Worship Center, and later changed to Upper Room Family Church. Mrs. Amburgy was an avid reader, enjoyed music, and word searches. She was strong in her faith, active in Bible study and cherised time with her family. Survivors include a daughter Teresa "Terri" (Daniel) Zelechowski of Antigo, 3 grandsons, Thomas (Kristine) Zelechowski of Jennings, James and Jonathon Zelechowski both of Antigo, 2 sisters, Anne (Harry) Nehls of Gurnee, Il, Jean Whitt of White Lake, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Emma Huffhines, Geraldine Neilson, Helen Pergakis, Alice Parmelee, 5 brothers, Edwin, Donald, Richard, Carl, and Lester Quist. Visitation will be from 3:30 until 5:30 PM on Monday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Memorial services follow at 5:30 with Rev. Steven Schroepfer officiating.
