Louise A. Schleis, age 88, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Evergreen Terrace. Mrs. Schleis was born on January 6, 1923 in Antigo to the late Arthur and Clara (Hugg) Blank. She attended St. John Catholic Grade School and was a graduate of Antigo High School class of 1940. Following high school, Mrs. Schleis worked in Alaska, Seattle, and Antigo. On May 31, 1947 She married Robert "Bob" Schleis at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on August 11, 1986. Mrs. Schleis, along with her husband, owned and operated the Cutlass Motor Lodge from 1966-1976. She was active as a volunteer at Langlade Hospital, Langlade County Historical Society, Meals on Wheels and the St. John Funeral Luncheon Committee. Mrs. Schleis enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, sewing and time with her family. Survivors include 6 daughters, Chris Paulson of Clintonville, Victoria (Richard) Jonely of Green Bay, Barbara (Tom) Erwin of Houston, TX, Elizabeth Schleis of Minneapolis, Andrea (Randy) Jacob of Antigo and Mary Schleis of St. Paul; 10 grandchildren, Scott Paulson, Megan Nielson, Bobbi Paulson, Paul Jonely, Michael Jonely, Leslie Jonely, Tommy Erwin, Robert Erwin, Steve Rabe, Jennifer DeGrave; 6 great-grandchildren, and grand-doggy Lexie Louise. Mrs. Schleis was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Evelyn Blank and Romaine Reed, a brother J. Arthur Blank, and a son-in-law Rick Paulson. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 1:00 pm at St. John Catholic Church. Visitation will be in the Hoffman Hall at St. John Catholic Church from 11:00 am until the service. A memorial fund will be established in Mrs. Schleis's name for the LeRoyer Hospice. Strasser-Roller Funeral Home is assisting the family.
