Louise Olson

Louise Olson, age 94, of Antigo died Friday at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Olson was born on Oct. 12, 1917 to the late Otto and Martha (Hoeft) Gresch. On May 3, 1941 she married LaVern Olson. He preceded her in death in December of 1981. Mrs. Olson graduated from Antigo High School in 1936 and went on to study at University of Wisconsin- Madison. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and was an active member of their Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Dorcas Society and Someone Cares. She was a teacher's aid at Peace Lutheran School. Mrs. Olson and her husband operated Gresch-Olson Farm along with her brother Ehrich for many years. Their farming included dairy, potatoes, beans and raising chickens. The farm also supplied eggs throughout Antigo. Mrs. Olson was the leader of the Willing Workers 4-H Club for 25 years and was honored by Congressman Melvin Laird for her dedication and service to the 4-H organization. She was a member of Extension Homemakers Club and drove school bus for 10 years. Both she and her husband worked for Theurich Catering at the Wisconsin State Fair. Mrs. Olson managed the kitchen while Mr. Olson became the chief bartender at the Pabst Beer Garden. Mr. and Mrs. Olson also worked for Gress Tree Farm driving to New Orleans to sell Christmas trees during the holiday season for many years. Survivors include 2 daughters; Belinda (Ron) Weber of Antigo and Rose (Marvin) Ecker of Antigo; 3 sons Milton (Kay) Olson of Wausau, Jerold (Karen) Olson of Lancaster, WI, Robert (Karen) Olson of Anaheim, CA, 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Olson was preceded in death by 3 brothers; George, Alex, and Ehrich. A memorial will be held on Tuesday at Peace Lutheran Church at 11:00 am. Visitation will be from 9:30am to11:00am Tuesday at the church. Rev. Scott Kruse will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials will be directed to Peace Lutheran Church. Strasser- Roller Funeral Home is assisting the family.
