Mae L. Copet, 91, formerly of Fond du Lac and Pearson, a resident of Eastview Medical & Rehabilitation Center in Antigo, died Friday, November 18, 2011. She was born a twin daughter of Nickalous & Selma (Johnson) Bauer on May 17, 1920 in the Town of Beaver, Clark County, Wisconsin. On July 22, 1939, she married Leon E. "Bud" Copet at Neillsville. Together they owned and operated Luco Boat Livery in Fond du Lac for 14 years. Afterwards, Mrs. Copet worked at the Lutheran Home. Mrs. Copet also voluteeered for the Fond du Lac Children's Home. She and her husband retired to Pearson in the spring of 1979, where Bud died unexpectedly June 25, 1979. They were trailblazing members of the Pickerel Tombstone Snowmobile Club at Pearson and enjoyed living there. Mrs. Copet was very involved in the meals on wheels program hosted at Hill's Still and loved having her rummage sale open every summer and polka dancing as well as entertaining family at her home. She was a devout member of Arbutus Lutheran Church at Pearson (previously a member of the Plymouth United Church of Christ, now Pilgrim Church in Fond du Lac). She is survived by her son Gerald "Jerry" (Rose Mary) Copet of West Bend; sister Esther (Bauer) Braun of Greenwood, three sisters-in-law, Minerva Bauer of Colby, Mildred "Mickey" Copet of Antigo and Cecily (Copet) Hickethier of Portage, one brother-in-law, Orlando "Louie" Kind of Greenwood; six grandchildren: Todd Copet of Sturgeon Bay, Gina (John) Rice of Wautoma, David (Deanna) Copet of Algoma, Nicole Schmidt of Redgranite, Jack (Alana) Copet of West Allis, Ryan (Stephanie) Copet of Luxemburg and 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mae was preceded in death by her husband, son Thomas on November 1, 2011, daughter-in-law, Jayne Copet, twin brother Maynard and sisters Helen (Bauer) O'Brien and Alvina (Bauer) Kind, as well as brothers-in-law Sylvester O'Brien, Harry Braun, Arnold "John" Copet, parents and many cousins, aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Arbutus Lutheran Church in Pearson. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Pearson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial in Mrs. Copet's name will be established for the Arbutus Lutheran Church.
