Margaret S. Mccann

Margaret Susan McCann passed into eternal life on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the age of 92. She was born in the Town of Rolling, on November 8, 1921, the third child born to Ludwig and Theresa (Berger) Andraschko. Her education began at the Pine Grove School, a one room schoolhouse in Langlade County. When she was seven years old, her family moved to Antigo and she then attended St. John's Catholic School. Margaret's formal education ended with the eighth grade. Margaret married Elmer Hanke in 1938. They were later divorced. She married Richard McCann on July 25, 1953. He preceded her in death on September 10, 2000. Margaret loved her family, and she felt so blessed to be the mother of 5 sons, 12 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gathering her family to her home for holidays. A highlight of her life occurred in 1990 when she was able to visit Europe and see the places where her mother and grandparents were born. Margaret had many friends and was always helping those in need. She had a kind word for everyone, and was slow to judge others. She was compassionate and tried to be a good example for her family. During her lifetime Margaret worked in a dairy, a shoe factory, a veneer mill, as the manager of the Antigo Hotel Bar, and as a home health care worker. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints. She served as a teacher for the children in the church. Margaret is survived by her 5 sons, Lowell (Nancy) Hanke, Larry (Kim) McCann, Terry (Faye) McCann, Dean (Julie) McCann, and Scott (Tami) McCann; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Fred (Remia) Androschko. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Richard Andraschko, Norman Andraschko, and Billy Andraschko; and a sister, Lorraine Andraschko LaFollette. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, with President David Gills officiating. Visitation will be 9:30-11:00 Saturday at the funeral home.
