Marie Sieber, of Antigo, WI died Mon. Nov. 14, 2011 at her home at the age of 84. She was born Dec. 8, 1926 in Shorewood, daughter of the late Cyril N. and Mildred (Ament). She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Prairie du Chien. She married Nelson Sieber on June 15, 1946. He survives and resides in Antigo. Marie was a homemaker, raising 7 children. She and her husband, Nelson, moved to Antigo, WI and Atlantic Beach, FL following retirement. Her hobbies included basketry, ceramics, and being active in the Senior Center. She was also a member of the VFW auxiliary in Antigo, and the American Legion auxiliary in Atlantic Beach. She was a member of SS. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo, and attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Atlantic Beach. She had a strong family background in the Catholic Church, which included her uncles, Bishop Augustine Schinner and Msgr. August Gearhard, a general in the US Army under Gen. Douglas MacArthur and director of SFOP. In addition to her husband, she is survived by 5 daughters, Marie T. (Harvey) Reichelt of Ossian, IN, Christine A. Sieber of Atlantic Beach, FL, Peggy L. (David) Mueller of Milwaukee, Cynthia K. (David) Drakulic of Wauwatosa, Sandra J. (Barry) Glasford of Cedarburg; 2 sons, James A. (Nancy) Sieber of Fairfield, IA, Glenn D. Sieber of Birnamwood; a sister, Mildred D'Csaby of Marietta, GA; a brother, Robert Gearhard of Neshkoro; 14 grandchildren, Rachel, Nicole, Martha, Emily, Harvey, Marie, David, Rebecca, Charlie, Katherine, Claire, Nelson, Duncan, and Alexandra; 10 great-grandchildren, Zachary, Isabella, Dylan, Keri, Jayson, Mac, Nick, Andrew, Sarah, and Peter. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, John Gearhard. Funeral Mass will take place Thurs. at 11:00 a.m. at St. Robert Catholic Church in Shorewood, with Fr. Dennis Dirkx celebrating. Visitation will be Thurs. 9:30-11 at the church, which will include rosary at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Society for the Propagation of the Faith.
