Marilyn J. Belott, age 86, of the Town of Neva, passed away on November 26, 2024 at Aspirus Langlade Hospital, surrounded by family.
Marilyn was born on July 8, 1938 in Pearson to the late Anton and Dorothy (Spencer) Fischer. She married Dale Belott on August 30, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pickerel. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2013.
Following her 8 years of grade school in Pickerel, Marilyn seized the opportunity to attend high school in Antigo, during which time she was welcomed to board with the Fred and Anna Brandt family. She developed a very dear friendship with their daughter Mildred. Due to that opportunity, Marilyn was able to pursue a nursing degree following graduation from Antigo High School in 1955.
She was employed as a registered nurse, first for St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee and then the Langlade County Health Department from May of 1972 until May of 1997. As a dedicated nurse, Marilyn answered the call to anyone and anytime.
Marilyn was a member of St. Wencel’s Catholic Church.
She also was a member of Bryant Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club, enjoyed dancing, playing cards, blackberry picking, 4-wheeling, Music in the Park, The Red Hatter’s Society, and fun family gatherings. Marilyn’s family meant the world to her, and she extended her love and care beyond her family.
Survivors include daughters; Karen (Thomas) Mach of Antigo, Cindy (Kirk) Lewis of Antigo, and Sheila (Joe) Mattek of Antigo, sons; Todd Belott of Antigo and Kevin (Cheryl) Belott of Bryant, sisters; Mavis Skidmore and Marvel Burkhart, grandchildren Tabitha (Andy) Kelley, Amanda Mach, Trisha Lewis, Colton Belott (Taylor Tryba), Jordan (Sarah) Mach, Tyler (Amber) Belott, Kylee Belott (Alex Larson), and Laurissa (Jesse) Jankowski, the Mattek grandchildren; Joshua (Anita) Mattek, Corey (Courtney) Mattek, Mitchel (Kassie) Mattek, and Kyle (Katrina) Mattek, great grandchildren; Camia Kelley, Nahalina Kelley, Malachi Kelley, Acacia Kelley, Henry Orne, Rhett Orne, Ada Orne, Laylah Sey, Spencer Washatko, Aurora Belott, Rayna Belott, Kinzley Larson, Fletcher Belott, Willow Mach, Ryver Mach, and Mach Twins to arrive in January, the Mattek great grandchildren; Brantley, Dahlia, Willie, Bennett, Luke, Henry, Sophie, Adeline, and Amelia.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by an infant brother and brothers-in-law; Garth Skidmore and Otto Burkhart.
Marilyn touched so many lives in such a special way and will remain in our hearts forever.
Marilyn will be laid to rest at Pearson Cemetery along with her husband and parents.
In accordance with her wishes no formal services will be held. The family will have a private celebration in honor of Marilyn.
