Marjorie Harriet Schweitzer

Marjorie Harriet Schweitzer, of Antigo, died at Aspirus Wausau Hospital on Wed., Oct. 19, 2011. She was 89 years old. She was born Jan. 9, 1922 in the Town of Rolling to the late Robert and Hattie (McGregor) Schroeder. She attended Hillside Grade School and graduated from Antigo High School with the class of 1939. On June 24, 1950, she married Philip Schweitzer at Calvary Lutheran Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1999. Mrs. Schweitzer was employed as a secretary at Four Wheel Drive in Clintonville, State of Wisconsin Health Department in Ashland, Line Material Company in Milwaukee, and for 30 years at the law firm of Winter & Winter in Antigo. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Antigo, serving on the church council and as church secretary. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #2653, Antigo Red Cross, and Langlade Hospital Volunteers. She also was a poll worker for elections. Survivors include a son, Robert (Marikaye) of Middleton; 3 daughters, Sheryl (James) Perkins of Antigo, Susan (Craig) Schwartz of Antigo, and Cynthia (Les) Ashton of Mount Prospect, IL; 8 grandchildren, Robert (Wendy) Perkins of Cuba City, WI, Rebecca (Tom E.) Schultz of Stevens Point, John (Casey) Schweitzer of Madison, Joseph Schweitzer of St. Paul, MN, Jay (special friend Alicia) Schweitzer of Madison, Justin Schwartz, Davin Schwartz, and Matthew Ashton; 4 great-grandchildren, Katherine Perkins, Carter and Garrett Schweitzer, and Hayden Schultz; a sister, Virginia Unruh of Superior, MT; 2 brothers-in-law, George Schweitzer of Antigo and Edwin (Colleen) Schweitzer of Valders; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Vera and Harold Tooley; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Lois Schoeder; a sister-in-law Mary Schweitzer; a brother-in-law, Ralph Unruh; and 2 nephews, Jack and Larry Tooley. Funeral services will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church on Mon., Oct. 24 at 10:00 a.m., Pastor John Czarnota officiating. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5-7 p.m. and again on Mon. from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Strasser-Roller Funeral Home is assisting the family. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
