Martha "Marie" Somer Mom left us swiftly, on Eagle's Wings, to join her Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday evening, June 7, 2013 at Kindred-CRT. Marie was born August 24, 1924 in Winona, MN to Albinus and Rose Lilly. The family relocated to Mercedes, TX when she was three years old and after high school graduation she met and married Milburn Buetow in 1942 while he was stationed at Harlingen Air Force Base, Texas. After World War II they settled in Antigo and later divorced, but stayed civilly connected because of their "Two Girls". Marie worked at Happy's Café, The Antigo Shopper's Guide and the City Gas Company( Mr. Rice was her hero). She was a caregiver for family and friends when they were in need. She also helped in the potatoes at various farms. She was very involved in church youth activities and was an excellent vocalist who enjoyed singing old time gospel hymns. While working at Happy's Café, she met Larry Somer and they married in 1953, moving to the homestead farm in Ackley. She was preceded into the "Promised Land" by her parents, sister Jeannine, brother Ralph, husband Larry Somer, stepson John "Jack" Somer, her son-in-law Donald Incha, Sr., and the father of her two daughters, Milburn Buetow. Survivors include "her girls", Alice Incha and Rose M. (Norbert) Fleischman, her daughter-in-law Elizabeth Somer, and the children of Ray and Helen (Somer) Adamski; her grandchildren Deborah (Mark) Brushert, Jeffrey (Beverly) Fleischman, Jamie (Kelly) Fleischman, Dayle (Donald) Wright, Dennise Incha, and Donald (Jenna) Incha, Jr.; great grandchildren John, Eric, Cayley Rose, Arianna,Jessica, Fletcher, Brendon, Melissa, Anthony, Dylan, Zoe, Ashley; and great grandchild, "R.J." Strasser-Roller Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Burial and a Gathering for Reminiscing and Celebrating Marie's Life will occur at a later date with Pastor Robert Newberry providing words of reflection and thoughts on Marie's New Life. A special and sincere "Thank you" goes to the staff at Eastview as Mom went from "Mom, Marie, Martha" to "The Tiny Terror" of the halls at 2:00 AM every night and then every day, all day, it seemed. Other times, she was an empress or imp depending on something "unknown". The patience and genuine caring for Mom was always evident and so very much appreciated by us, who only had to "visit" and not do the myriad necessities of keeping her clean, fed, pain free, and watched over as she walked the halls and visited other areas (invited or uninvited, as it were). So many to recognize, yet I know I will miss some "angels". Please know I so very much thank you – Dawn, Wanda, Debbie, Susan, Paula, Beth, Shelley, Naomi, Susan, Tracy, Vicki, David, Kathy,Mary Jo, Jerilyn, Ashley, Ted, Cindy, Bonnie, Jodi, Margaret, and so many residents who shared their concern for her LaVerne, Dolores, Ken, and Nathalie ( and for me as I traveled through this unknown and uncertain journey with Mom. We all did the best we could and so did she.
