Mary Ellen Wendt

Mary Ellen Wendt, age 93, of Antigo died Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Bay at Eastview. Mary Ellen was born on March 8, 1925 to the late Merritt and Germaine (McCormick) Reader. Mary Ellen was a graduate of Antigo High School class of 1943. On September 5, 1945 she was united in marriage to Merle A. Wendt. He preceded her in death on July 10, 2014. Mary Ellen was a homemaker. She was a talented seamstress and could knit beautifully. She was an avid reader. One of her greatest t enjoyments was watching her grandchildren participate in sports and activities. She was a member of Ss. Mary and Hyacinth's Catholic Church and their Rosary Society. She was also a member of the ELKS Ladies. Survivors include 3 daughters, Sue Ellen (Ron) Zalewski of Pelican Lake, Denise Wendt of Antigo, Barbara (Tim) Fermanich of Antigo, 6 grandchildren, Ron Zalewski, Jr. (Bobbi Braun), Jim Ostermeier, Timothea (Scott) Uttecht, Jennifer (Brian) Hissom, John (Maggie) Fermanich, Jacob Fermanich, 7 great grandchildren, Lane (Sammi) Zalewski, Logan Hissom, Luke Hissom, Levi Hissom, Emma Fermanich, Stella Uttecht and Tate Uttecht. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary Ellen was preceded in death by a brother James Reader, a sister Margie Reader and a grandson Steven Zalewski. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Reverend Matthew Simonar will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
