Mary Keller, of Deerbrook, died October 18, 2019 at Care Partners Assisted Living in Antigo under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 99 years old. She was born October 2, 1920 in the Town of Peck, daughter of the late Nicholas and Marie (Stork) Franc. Mary graduated from Bluebell School. She married Daniel G. Keller on August 29, 1945, and he preceded her in death on November 4, 2007. Mrs. Keller was a wife, daughter, mom, grandmother, sister, friend, volunteer and traveler. She worked as a homemaker, and was an active, hardworking partner on the family's organic farm. The tradition continues with her son operating a certified organic farm on the family homestead. She was also an organic gardener and self-taught seamstress. She baked bread from wheat that she had raised and ground. In her younger years, she worked as a nanny in Chicago before returning to Langlade County. She was a 4-H volunteer, member of the Freibel Homemaker Club, secretary of the ZCBJ Lodge for 25 years, and a Langlade Hospital volunteer. Survivors include 2 children, Mary Keller-Diefendorf of Foresthill, CA, and James (Sharon) Keller of Deerbrook; 7 grandchildren, Nicholas and Lyssa Diefendorf, Daniel, Ben, Jennifer, Emily, and Melissa Keller; and a sister, Clara (Ron) Shadick of Weyerhauser. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rose Keller; and 2 brothers, Frank and Ed Franc. A celebration of life will take place Saturday October 26, 2019 Noon-3:00 at Quinns in Neva. Interment will take place in Bohemian National Cemetery in Neva. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
