Mary Riha passed on to her Lord and Savior peacefully on Sunday, May 28, 2023. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Gerald (Jerry) Paul Riha, and her two sons Mark Gerald (Barb) and Michael John. She is also survived by her grandchildren Alexander and Benjamin and siblings, Maggie (Ian), Janet (John), JoAnn (Doc), John (Shirley) and Dan, brother-in-law, John.
She was preceded in death by her sister Cathy and stepbrother Bob Lutz.
Mary was born, raised, and enjoyed her entire life in Antigo Wisconsin. She enjoyed cooking, taking care of her orchids, playing the piano, watching her grandchildren grow up, taking rides in her red Camaro and on her Harley, singing with her sisters, quilting, and perhaps most of all, being a wife and mother.
Mary was one of the most generous, dedicated, spirited, and hard-working women anyone would ever hope to encounter. Mary was known for her wickedly quick sense of humor who always spoke her mind – whether it was warranted or not. Anyone who ever met Mary would have a hard time forgetting her. She had the kind of smile that would light up a room. She was also the kind of mother who put her love and support for her sons before anything she personally desired. She encouraged her sons to live life to the fullest and because of her selfless approach to parenting we were able to do just that. She was a mother, wife, grandmother, mentor, friend, and will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. John Catholic Church with Father Charles Hoffmann officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be held on a later date at Queen of Peace Cemetery.
