Merwyn Charles Cross

Merwyn “Merv” Cross, age 84, of Antigo passed away on December 15, 2020 under the loving care of LeRoyer Hospice and the staff of Care Partners. Merv was born on September 22, 1936 in Summit Lake to the late Irma and Charles Cross. He graduated from Antigo High School in 1954. After graduating high school, Merv enlisted in the United States Navy. He served from 1954 to 1957 and was stationed at the Naval Air Station in Hutchinson, KS. After serving in the Navy, Merv moved to West Bend where he worked at Larry’s Bar and Door Electric. He then moved back to Summit Lake where he owned and operated Palace of Mirrors Bar. Merv was a member of Ss. Mary and Hyacinth. He enjoyed baseball, whether it be umping a county game or cheering on the Cubs. He was also a fan of the Bears. Merv is survived by sisters; Sandy (Jim) Reif of Antigo and Adella Page of South Milwaukee, and brothers; Charles (Kathy) Cross of Kimberly and Greg Cross of Antigo. He was also a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Merv was preceded in death by a brother; George Cross, stepfather; George Schauer and nephew; Mark Cross. A funeral service for Merv will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home at 11:00 AM. A visitation will take place at the funeral home prior to service from 10:00-11:00 AM. Following the service, burial will take place at summit lake with military honors. Those attending are asked to wear masks and social distance. Merv’s family extends a special thank you to the staff at Care Partners for the care provided to Merv for the last 5 years.
