Michael Ronald Beckingham

October 19, 1947 — August 17, 2014

Michael Ronald Beckingham, lifelong area resident, died Sunday, Aug. 17 at his home in the Town of Norwood. He was 66 years old. He was born Oct. 19, 1947 in Antigo, son of the late Alfred and Velda (Rabe) Beckingham. He married Barbara Meyer on Oct. 18, 1969, and she survives. He graduated from Antigo High School in 1965. He then served in the US Army, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Beckingham worked as an independent logger, and also was a dairy farmer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family, and especially his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Becky (Greg) Strobel of Antigo; a son, Todd Beckingham (Dawn Pelky) of Antigo; 4 sisters, Karen (Mark) Mueller of Spooner, Sandy (Pete) Spiegl of Greenville, Joan (Gary) Borneman of Wausau, and Pam (Barry) Parlier of Wausau; sister-in-law, Sue Beckingham of Antigo; 6 grandchildren, Whitney, Jordan, Brittany, Jacob "Jake", Mackenzie "Mack", and Lexy; and special friend, Quinlan "Mouse". In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Larry, Harry, and Timmy; mother and father in-law Harold and Irene Meyer, and brother-in-law, Randy Meyer. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, with Rev. Donald Engebretson officiating. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home and 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday at church. Interment will follow the service in St. Peter Church Cemetery. Local veterans will present military honors at the graveside. A memorial will be established in his name. Friends may visit online at www.strasserrollerfh.com. Mike had a big heart, and he touched the lives of many.
