Michael Thomas Lawton

Michael Thomas Lawton of Antigo passed away unexpectedly at home on February 19, 2024 at the age of 69.

Mike was born on February 13, 1955 in Milwaukee to the late James and Mary (Wiggin) Lawton. He graduated from New Berlin West High School and went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree at UW Stevens Point. Mike was united in marriage to Janet (Garritty) on September 26, 1981 in Antigo.

Mike was employed by Langlade Hospital for 39 years, retiring as the Director of Laboratory Services. He loved the Antigo community, where he was involved in Boy Scouts, Garden Club, and numerous other community activities. Most important to him was his faith in Jesus Christ. He attended the Bible Truth Assembly in Antigo and faithfully sought to share the love of Christ with others.

In addition to his wife, Mike is survived by children, Kevin (Amy) Lawton of Stevens Point, Jessica (Jonathon) Day of Plymouth, MN, Kyle (Karen) Lawton of Tigerton, Kurtis (Abigail) Lawton of Mequon, and Kaleb (Elizabeth) Lawton of Morganton, NC, siblings, David Lawton, Kathleen Lawton, Richard (Jina) Lawton, Peter Lawton, Brian (Karen) Lawton, and 15 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his father-in-law Dr. John Garritty and mother-in-law Ellen Garritty.

A visitation will be held Friday February 23, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home in Antigo. On Saturday February 24, a funeral service will be held from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Antigo Community Church, with the first 30 minutes being a time for anyone to share. There will also be a visitation preceding the funeral service from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM also at Antigo Community Church.
