Mildred C. Billings

Mildred C. Billings, of Antigo, died at her home after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease on September 23, 2013 at the age of 85. She was born January 8, 1928 in Tennessee, daughter of the late Cletis Alton Simmons and Hattie Elsie (Stiner). She married Russell Anthony Billings on November 17, 1967. He preceded Mildred in death in 1994. She was a former resident of Monroe, MI, and Chicago, IL. She raised her family in Chicago, and was employed as a waitress. She later moved to the Antigo area. Mrs. Billings took care of her grandchildren, and she enjoyed crocheting and collecting dolls. Survivors include a daughter, Carol (Michael) Caffero of Antigo; a son, Johnny (fiancé Lisa) Easter of Chicago; a sister, Bonnie Sharp of Monroe, MI; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Simmons. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1-2 at the funeral home. Burial will take place with her husband at Wood National Cemetery in Milwaukee.
