Morris Edward Day, age 88, passed away January 25, 2025 at Rosemary Manor in Mattoon, WI.
He was born on August 17, 1936 to the late Maurice “Odell” and Eula (Tillary) Day. On September 7, 1956, he was united in marriage to Cynthia “Sue” Burrows at Southside Church of Christ in Albuquerque. She preceded him in death on October 28, 2023.
Morris worked in the auto sales business. He and his wife owned and operated Day Motor Co., Midwest Motors, Sundance Motors and Southwest Sunset Autos all in Albuquerque. They raised their family in Albuquerque and were members of Church of Christ while living there.
In 2017 they moved to Mississippi. While living there they were members of Perrytown Church of Christ.
Most recently the couple moved to Antigo, WI to be near their daughter, Sherry.
Morris had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. Whether it was soaring through the skies as a pilot, snow skiing, or waterskiing, he found joy in every corner of nature. He had a passion for motorcycles, dune buggies, boats, planes, cars, and any vehicle that could take him on his next great adventure. Family was the cornerstone of Morris’s life. He was a kid at heart and enjoyed creating memories with his family, whether it was trips in the motorhome or trips to the amusement park. He was known for living his life to the fullest.
Morris is survived by 4 of 5 children: Nancy Burnett, Cindy (Mitch) Zamparello, Sherry (Greg) Piraino, John (Tammy) Day, a daughter-in-law Patty Wilson, a sister Rosemary Bass, sister-in-law Maragret Day, 12 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren, along with many Nieces and Nephews.
Morris was preceded in death by his parents, son Terry Day, and infant son, grandson Christopher, a brothers Bobby Jack Day and David Dean Day, a son-in-law Wriley Burnett, and brother in law Charles Bass.
Services will be held at later date in Albuquerque.
