On September 20, 2024, Nancy Aileen Hunter was given the gift of eternal life.
Nancy Aileen (Neuman) Hunter was born July 15, 1946 in St. Paul, MN to Ellsworth and Beverly Neuman. She grew up in North St. Paul and was a 1964 graduate of North St. Paul High School. She then attended North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND where she received a BS degree in Home Economics in 1969. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. While a student at NDSU she met her husband, Bob Hunter of Antigo, who was a member of the Bison football team. They were married on March 8, 1969. There were married for 52 years. Bob passed to his Heavenly home on October 13, 2021. She worked in the accounting office of Parsons of Antigo for 38 years, retiring in 2020. Nancy is survived by three sons: Jason (Carol) and their children, Caitlin and Jackson; Jed (Kristy) and their children, Veronica and Evelyn; John (fiancé Jessica Filbrandt) and her daughters, Katelynn (Seth) Washatko and their children Jude, Blu, and Poppy; and Josephine Draeger. Nancy’s sister (Peggy (Nicola) Civetta, brothers William (Joanne) Neuman, Richard (Melissa) Neuman. Sister-in-law Jane Hunter, special niece, Dina Conzemius and very special friends, Georgia and Breck Inman. Also several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas and Loraine Hunter, her brother and sister-in-law John and Jeannie Neuman, and brothers-in-Law Michael Hunter and Thomas Lee Hunter. Nancy was a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church. Her faith was very important to her and carried her through her numerous health issues and especially the loss of her beloved Bob. Because of her many health issues, Nancy’s final wish was to gift her body to the UW Medical School body donor program. In lieu of flowers, Nancy strongly prefers donations to Peace Lutheran Ministries or the Gerald and Dorothy Volm Cancer Center, where she received wonderful, loving care throughout her cancer journey.
Nancy’s family would like to extend a special thank you to LeRoyer Hospice, The Gerald and Dorothy Volm Cancer Center, Dr. Chris Peterson, Pastor Dave and Shelly Karolus, Pastor Jarod Fenske, Minister Dr. Jeff Nielson, Jane Hunter, and Sarah Stoehr for their kindness, care, and support during this most difficult time.
A memorial service for Nancy will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, 300 Lincoln St. Antigo. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
