Neal Gray

Neal F Gray of Antigo passed away on February 1, 2021 under the care of LeRoyer Hospice after battling the complications of Alzheimer’s. He was 79 years old. Neal was born on December 7, 1941 in Antigo to the late Henry and Belva (Krueger) Gray. Neal was raised by his late Uncle Roman and late Aunt Maxine Steinfest. On February 9, 1963, Neal was united in marriage to Patricia Schultz in Antigo. She survives. Neal graduated from Antigo High School in 1960. He went on to work as a logger with his grandpa Charles Krueger. He then spent 30 years working for his Uncles Roman and Monte at Krueger and Steinfest as a heavy equipment operator. He also spent 20 years working for the Langlade County Highway Department. Neal was a member of St. John Catholic Church. He was also a member of Badgerland Classics and one of his favorite hobbies was restoring classic cars. In his early years, he participated in drag races in Kaukauna. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed watching NASCAR as well as old western shows. Neal was passionate about rescuing dogs. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at his family cabin. In addition to his wife, Neal is survived by sons; Todd (Paula) Gray of Bryant and Troy (Debbie) Gray of Oostburg, daughter; Tiffany Gray of Antigo, brothers; Terry (Carol) Gray of the Milwaukee area, Kurt (Rhonda) Gray of Germantown, and Jeff (Linda) Gray of Oshkosh, cousin; Deborah (Dr. James) Moermond of Antigo, grandchildren; Lauren Gray, Alex Gray, Ryan Gray, Tonya (TeeJay Franklin) Gray, and Kira Ashbeck, great grandchildren; Owyn Ahles and Layla Franklin, sisters-in-law; Jacqueline Hackbarth, Mary Jo (Gary) Dobbs, Karen Stickney, Pamela Calhoun, and Linda Gray, brothers-in-law; William Schultz, and Donald (Cody Nelson) Schultz, lifelong friend; Robert “Bucky” Lynett, and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, aunt, and uncle, Neal was preceded in death by maternal grandparents; Charles and Blanche Krueger, paternal grandparents; Neal and Ruth Gray, brothers; Ken “Doc” Gray, Russel Gray, and Bryce Gray, stepmother; Irmalee Gray, mother-in-law; Katherine Schultz, father-in-law; Jack Schultz, sister-in-law; Sandra Youngquist and Pat Gray and brother-in-law; Michael Hackbarth. In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held.
