Norman Kolpack died at his home in Polar on June 30, 2014 at the age of 86 under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice. He was born Aug. 17, 1927 in Polar, son of the late Alex Carl and Elsa (Riemer) Kolpack. He married Margaret Dieck on Aug. 12, 1950 at Peace Lutheran Church in Antigo, and she survives. He attended Schuman Grade School in Polar, and went on to work in many fields. He was a dairy farmer, milk hauler, Polar Town Board chairman, and St. Peter's Church custodian for 15 years. He also did custom combining for other dairy farmers, and was employed at Frost Veneer Mill, and in the aircraft manufacturing industry in California from 1956-1957. Mr. Kolpack enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, trapping, making maple syrup, beekeeping, and snowmobiling. He was a founding member of the Polar Blazers Snowmobile Club. He also played drums in a band and enjoyed dancing. In addition to his wife Margaret Kolpack of Polar, survivors include 5 daughters, Patsy (William) Walrath of Deerbrook, Ronda (Gary) Lutzow of Polar, Mary Kay (Jack) Feak of Sagola, MI, Bonnie (Dave) Marckx of Palmetto, FL, and Diane (Michael) Welter of Wausau; 4 sons, Rod (Jenny) Kolpack of Bryant, Michael "Micky" (Jane) Kolpack of Polar, Martin "Marty" (Sandra) Kolpack of Polar, and Tim (Dareth) Kolpack of Bryant; 33 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 1 foster children, Bill ( Audrey) Messer of Polar; 3 sisters, Lorraine Wheeler of Antigo, Maxine Basley of Antigo, and Joanne Labbus of Antigo; and 2 brothers, Milton Kolpack of Polar, and Reuben (Lucille) Kolpack of Polar. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 foster children, Robert Messer and Margaret Wehe; 3 sisters, Renata Lucht, Adeline Kelm, and Doris Norem; and 3 brothers, Edwin, Lloyd, and Alex. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Polar, with Rev. Donald Engebretson officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home and 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will follow the service at St. Peter's Church Cemetery.
