Pamela Irene Hunter Cushing

August 19, 1950 — March 20, 2026

Pamela Irene Hunter Cushing, 75, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, at Our House Senior Living in Wausau.

Pam was born on August 19, 1950, in Wausau to the late Harold and Bernice (Heuss) Imig. She was the oldest of three daughters, and graduated from DC Everest High School in 1968.

Pam was united in marriage to Thomas Lee Hunter, and together they raised two children in Antigo before later divorcing.

Pam lived a life centered around her family. Strong-willed, warm, and easily amused, she had a personality that drew people in and made them feel at ease. She always put the needs of her children first and carried a deep desire to stay closely connected with the people she loved.

She worked as a homemaker, nanny, and CNA - roles that reflected her caring nature. She also spent time working in the insurance industry.

Pam found joy in many things, especially those that brought her together with friends and family. She loved singing and was a member of her church choir. She enjoyed concerts and dancing as she followed local bands. She appreciated outdoor adventures with her family, including snowmobiling, biking, and camping – fondly remembered as “glamping” in her case. She stayed active with roller skating and Jazzercise in the early years, and had a fondness for sweets and seafood (though never together). She cherished traveling and vacations, and loved to do some shopping. She treasured animals and would enjoy a visit to the zoo. She especially adored spending time with her beloved furry grandchildren.

She embraced staying connected in her own unique way—regularly texting loved ones and commenting on Facebook posts. Pam never found an emoji she didn’t like, often using several in a single message, a small but memorable reflection of her playful spirit.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Brian (Rachel) Hunter of Savage, MN, and Tana Hunter (Justin) of Weston, WI; her sisters, Barb Bishop (fiancé Dave) of Weston, Cindy (Mike) Gribowski of Marathon; her niece, Kristi; nephews, Matt (Elissa), Joe (Beckie) and Nathan (Alec); great-nieces Lexi and Lily. She also leaves behind her cherished grand-dogs, Tigo Stardust and Kauai Raine.

In addition to her parents, Pam was preceded in death by her beloved grand-dogs, Payton and Rigby, and grand-bunny, “Bun Buns”.

Pam will be remembered for her big heart, her deep love for her family, and the joy she found in life’s simple moments. Her presence will be very much be missed, but the memories she created will be cherished always.
