Peter H. Rasmussen

Peter Hans Rasmussen, Jr. age 84, of Summit Lake passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau, WI. Peter was born July 15, 1925 at Summit Lake to the late Peter and Mae (Taylor) Rasmussen. Peter attended Summit Lake Grade School and graduated from Elcho High School in 1943. He graduated from Northland College in 1951. Peter served in the US Navy as a radioman in the Pacific Theater during World War II.After his service in the US Navy, Peter was employed by the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad as an agent-telegrapher, supervising agent and a supervisor of station operations.Peter operated and was co-owner of Rasmussen Cottages in Summit Lake. He was member of Ancient Landmark Masonic Lodge 210 at Ashland, WI and was a member of Northway VFW Post 920 of Pelican Lake. Mr. Rasmussen is survived his twin brothers children and their families; 5 nephews and their wives and a niece; Joel (Natalie) Rasmussen of Summit Lake, David (Aleta) Rasmussen of Leland, IL, Jon (Dawn) Rasmussen of Kenett Square, PA, Peter( (Jennie) Rasmussen of Minneapolis, MN , Robert ( Jane) Rasmussen of Wausau, WI, and Sue Ann Rasmussen of Madison, WI; great nieces and nephews; Sara, Kendall, Khristen, Jennifer, Lauren, Kayla, Hannah, Ryan, Andrea, and Amanda; a sister Alice (Gordon) of Bonduel, and sister-in-laws; June of Beaver Dam, WI, Beverly of Green Bay, WI, and Marge of Bettendorf, IA. He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by 5 brothers; Fred, Donald, Bruce, his twin brother Paul, Wallace and a sister Edith Pichotta.Peter will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
