Peter Joseph Marmes

Peter Joseph Marmes, Jr. of Antigo and formerly of Waukegan, died Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was 71 years old. He was born June 22, 1948 in Antigo, son of the late Marie (Clay) and Peter J. Marmes, Sr. He married Betty Ann Shilling on September 19, 1981 in Waukegan, IL, and she survives. Pete worked as a machinist and tool and die set up man at Johns-Mansville in Waukegan and Johnson Motors. He was a former member of Knights of Columbus and AMVETS. He enjoyed watching the Packers and Bears games, trips to the casino, mowing his lawn, and gardening. In addition to his wife, Betty, survivors include a daughter, Tammy Lynn Marmes of Waukegan, IL; a son, Paul Marmes of Manitowoc; 3 grandchildren, Joshua Marmes of Manitowoc, Darren Marmes stationed overseas with the US Army, and Valentina Marmes of St. Nazianz; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Patty and Mary Kay; and 4 brothers, Larry, Tommy, Johnny, and Jerry. A visitation will take place on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to noon at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Prayers will be offered at noon by Pastor Dick Kendall. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery will follow.
