Philip B. Baraniak

Philip B. Baraniak, age 90, passed away under the care of LeRoyer Hospice and his family on Monday, May 4, 2020 at his home in Antigo. He was born August 5, 1929, son of the late John and Martha (Skarlupka) Baraniak. He married Betty Blaha on August 30, 1952 at St. John Catholic Church, Antigo, in a wedding officiated by Father Drexler. Betty survives and resides in Antigo. He served in the US Navy until 1950. He worked at Kraft Foods in Antigo from 1951 until his retirement in 1991. He also worked part time for Leonard Wild Potato Farm. Phil always had a hobby farm where he raised horses, cows, calves, chickens, geese, rabbits, pigs, turkeys, and lambs. He loved planting a garden, making wood, and camping. His favorite hobbies were deer hunting and especially bow hunting, and ice fishing with his sons, daughters, and grandsons. In addition to his wife, survivors include 3 daughters, Sandra Black (special friend Jim Roesner) of Shawano, Julie Baraniak of Wausau, and Kelly (Ken) Sloat of Merrill; two sons, Bill Baraniak (Marge) of Appleton, and Tim (Colleen) Baraniak of Antigo; 4 grandsons, Roger Baraniak of Antigo, PJ (Suzie) Baraniak of Oceanside, CA, Keagan (Brooke) Marten of Merrill, and Kolton (Desiree) Marten of Osceola; a step-granddaughter, Amy of Neenah; 4 great grandchildren, Penelope, Andrew, and Madison Baraniak of Oceanside, CA, and Kennedi Marten of Osceola; 2 step-great granddaughters, Jasmine and Destiny of Neenah; 2 sisters, Evelyn (Mark) Walzak of Chicago, and Rosemary Paykel of California; and a sister in law, Betty Baraniak of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Baraniak, and infant brother Gerald; 2 brothers in law, Marty Paykel and Bill Blaha; a sister in law, Bernice Defoe; his father and mother in law, Joe and Lillian Blaha; and his daughter in law, Bonnie Baraniak. Interment will take place at Queen of Peace Cemetery on a later date. I’m Free Don’t grieve for me For now I’m free. I am following the path God laid for me. I took his hand When I heard him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone Must stay that way. I found that peace At the close of the day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy- A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss- Ah these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow
