Mr. Heistad was born on April 26, 1922 in White Lake to the late Ole and Bertha (Jensen) Heistad. On October 5, 1946 he was united in marriage to Emilee Hatfield at Four Corners Assembly of God Church. She survives and resides in White Lake. Mr. Heistad attended White Lake High School. During his later high school years he lived in Chicago, graduating from Crane High School and then attending McKessan & Robins Pharmaceutical School. He served in the US Army Airforce from January 12, 1943 until March 14, 1946. He dairy farmed in White Lake and was also a licensed insurance agent providing property and casualty insurance, employed by Wausau Mutual Insurance Company. Active in his community, Mr. Heistad served on the Langlade County Board, was the Town Clerk for the Town of Evergreen, and was also on the Co-op Oil Board. He was a member of The American Legion- Saether Post 524 and the Disabled Amercian Veterans. He was an active member of Four Corners Assembly of God Church in White Lake. He enjoyed berry picking, gathering wild mushrooms, music, poetry, and produced blue ribbon maple syrup. In addition to his wife, survivors include 6 daughters; Bonnie (Jim) Holthus of Madison, Peggy (Pete) Swim of Madison, Nancy (Tom) Ramer of White Lake, Esther (Jeff) Hoffman of Rhinelander, Mary (Doug) Urban of Miladore and Becky (Jim) Stanton of Antigo; 3 sons, Myron (Diana) of Shawano, Joe (Darlane) of White Lake and Timothy, (Doreen) of White Lake, 24 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. Mr. Heistad was preceded in death by 4 brothers; Wallace, Arthur, Kermit, and Gordon ; 3 sisters; LenaOlsen, Octavia Hembach, and Rachel Stennes and a grandson Mark Ramer. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 –7:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home and on Saturday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at Four Corners Assembly of God Church in White Lake. The visitation will be followed by the committal service at 11:00 AM at Langlade Cemetery. The congregation will then convene at Four Corners Assembly of God Church for a celebration of Mr. Heistad's life at 12:00 noon. Reverend Marvin Kindle will officiate.
