Phyllis Jean Cook

Phyllis Jean Cook, age 91, of Antigo passed away Monday December 16, 2024 at Rennes in Rhinelander.

Phyllis was born March 14, 1933 in Presque Isle, WI to the late Borden and Elizabeth (Galvian) Calkins.

On October 31, 1953, Phyllis was united in marriage to Robert Cook in Milwaukee. Robert preceded her in death on March 19, 2003.

Phyllis worked at Red Star Yeast for over 40 years while she and Robert resided in Milwaukee and raised their family. Upon retirement Phyllis and Bob moved to Antigo.

Phyllis was an avid Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewer fan. As a big Elvis fan, she loved to go to Elvis impersonator performances.

Phyllis was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, where she ministered to people in their home and brought them communion.

Survivors include her two sons Jeffrey (Leslie) Cook of Ocala, FL and Robert Cook of Wausau, two grandchildren Jeffrey (Kristyona) Cook, Jr and Ashley (Noah) Dion, and a great granddaughter Eleanor.

In addition to her husband and parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 1 brother.

A memorial service for Phyllis will be planned for a later date. Strasser-Roller Funeral Home is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Phyllis’s name may be directed to Calvary Lutheran Church of Antigo.

Those who knew Phyllis loved her “firecracker” personality and her knack for making friends wherever she went. She will be dearly missed and always loved.

A memorial service for Phyllis will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 2:30 PM at Calvary Lutheran Church. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the church.
