Richard C. Van Ooyen, age 79 of Pelican Lake passed away on Sunday September 11th at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, WI.
Richard, better known as Dick, was born on November 23, 1942 in Antigo, WI. To the late Floyd and Jean (Purdy) Van Ooyen.
He was united in marriage to MaryKaye on January 17, 1987 and she survives.
Dick graduated from Antigo High School, Class of 1962. He furthered his education, obtaining his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He worked as a Design Engineer for Drott & JI Case manufacturing for 37 years, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially the yearly motorcycle trips with his wife and children. He was an avid ATV rider and belonged to several ATV clubs. He truly loved the close friends that he rode with on a weekly basis. In his younger years he enjoyed snowmobiling and fishing. Dick will be remembered for his unique sense of humor and his strong political views.
Richard is survived by his wife MaryKaye, his beloved dog Harrison, his son Paul (Jennifer) VanOoyen, Rothschild, his daughter Karen (Andy) Kaplan, New Brighton MN, stepson Scott Ostrowski, Wittenberg and stepdaughter Stacy (Mark) Pukall, Eland, 8 grandchildren Paige, Caden, Alexandra, Jacob, Ben, Daniel, Zoe and Ashley, 5 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother Dennis (Jean) Van Ooyen, Antigo. Richard was proceeded in death by his parents, a son Peter Van Ooyen and several other family members and friends.
The family will be having a private celebration of Dicks life.
