Richard Joseph Kennedy of Antigo passed away on May 31, 2023 under the care of LeRoyer Hospice and the staff at Rosalia Gardens. He was 81 years old.
Dick was born on April 4, 1942 in Oak Park, IL to the late James and Anne (Cummins) Kennedy. He was united in marriage to Patricia Rasman on September 12, 1964 in River Forest, IL.
Dick graduated from Fenwick High School in Oak Park, IL. He went on to graduate from Loyola University with a bachelor’s degree in history. He then received a master’s degree in public administration in Chicago at Illinois Institute of Technology.
Following their time in Chicago, the couple spent several years in Rockford, IL where Dick worked as assistant director for the Rockford Park District. Dick then worked as an auto dealer, both managing and owning different firms for over 30 years in California. Upon retirement, the couple spent time residing in Washington state to be near family, before permanently settling in Antigo in 2018.
He was always happy to be surrounded by family. He was a generous husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. All who were blessed to know Dick will miss him dearly.
In addition to his wife Patricia, Dick is survived by a son Michael (Neena) Kennedy, grandchildren, Caitlin (Liam) Clements, Meghan, Brian, Jack, and Grace Kennedy, and a great granddaughter on the way.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by a son John Kennedy, sister Norine Beirne, and brother James Kennedy.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Dick will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. John Catholic Church with Father Charles Hoffmann officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church. Entombment will follow the service at Queen of Peace.
