Richard "Red" Barta

Richard "Red" Barta, 73, of Waupaca, formerly of Antigo died Friday, November 6, 2015. Red was born on March 17, 1942 to the late Rudy and Rose (Kolz) Barta in Antigo. On March 25, 1994, he was united in marriage to Kathleen "Kass" (Schmiege) Stern in Crandon, WI. Red was a produce manager at Super Valu and was also employed at All-Car. He enjoyed baseball, softball and golf. He attended St. John Catholic School and was a graduate of Antigo High School class of 1960. In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughters, Beth, Jenny, Melanie, and Stephanie; a stepson Patrick (Heather) Stern; a brother, Ken Barta; and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter Tina Abhold. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 7:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Reverend Charles Hoffmann will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home prior to the service from 4:00-7:00PM. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in Red's name.
