Richard "Rick" Cross

June 19, 1959 — August 18, 2016

Richard "Rick" Cross, longtime resident of the Antigo/Polar area, died at Colonial Manor in Wausau on August 18, 2016 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice. He was 57 years old. He was born June 19, 1959 in Antigo, son of Russell and Voldean (Ligon) Cross. He married Kathleen Spychalla at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Antigo on July 1988, and Kathleen preceded him in death in November 1998. Rick was a graduate of Antigo High School. He owned and operated R & R Carpet Installation, and was also employed at Mattek Potato Farms. He was a father with a great love for his children. He raised them, and was always supportive and proud of all their accomplishments. He was most known for his love of Harleys and Corvettes. Survivors include 2 daughters, Allison Cross of Green Bay, and Melissa Cross of Kenosha; a son, Joseph Cross; 4 sisters, Carol (Ken) Johnson of Douglasville, GA, Betti Cross of Boise, ID, Janet (Ron) Brewer of Naperville, IL, and Beverly (Mike) Robinson of Madison; 3 brothers, Russell (Betty) Cross of Polar, Robert (Kim) Cross of Bryant, and Rodney (Marie) Cross of Bryant; and a sister-in-law, Eileen Cross of Winthrop Harbor, IL. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Cross. A gathering in Rick's memory will take place at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home on Sunday from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date in Queen of Peace Cemetery in Antigo.
