Rita M. Zahurones

Rita E. Zahurones, age 76, of Antigo joined her Lord and Savior yesterday May 20, 2009. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends at Eastview Medical & Rehabilitation Center. Rita was born July 16, 1932 in Cook County, Illinois to the late John and Petronella Lenkus. She married Frank Zahurones in Chicago, Illinois in 1952. He preceded her in death on August 16,1999. Rita graduated from Kelly High School in Chicago, Illinois. Rita and Frank lived and worked in Chicago following marriage, moving to Neva in 1971 with their family. Frank and Rita owned and operated Frank and Rita'sTavern & Restaurant in Neva. She also worked at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center in housekeeping and as a nursing assistant. Rita also worked at the Langlade County Community Center and Parkview Manor in food service. She continued to volunteer after retirement. She was a member of St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church and also enjoyed worshiping with her family at Faith Center Church of God. Rita enjoyed playing cards, cooking, Bingo and 50/50. She loved being with her children and grandchildren. Rita is survived by a daughter, Theresa Kaiser, Antigo and three sons, Frank (Gina) Zahurones, Antigo, Russell Zahurones, Cave Creek, AZ and Douglas Zahurones, Antigo. Also survived by 11 grandchildren; Tania (Jon) Brown, Nathian Kaiser (special friend Melissa), Corey Kaiser, Daryl Zahurones, Faith (Adam) Mickelson, Jami (Santiago) Sanchez, Chad Wes t(special friend Jessie), Marsha West (special friend Andrew), Steven Zahurones, Brian Zahurones, and Dana Hallisy and 17 great grandchildren, Zachary, Ayden, Haylie, Jalen, Chance, Sami, Caitlyn, Adam, Brianne, Legacy, Devon, Dillon, Angelina, Jaidyn, Kadence, Jasmine, Kiana and soon to arrive, Benjamen.. Further survived by sister-in-law, Jeanette Zahurones and very close friends Marge McCann, Marge Thomas and Jay and Inez Grohman. Her favorite dog friend, Mindy. In addition to her parents Mrs. Zahurones is preceded in death by her husband and sister, Emily Mikal and an infant great grandchild. A memorial has been established in her name. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Center Church. Pastor Danny Pyeatte will officiate. Visitation will be at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home Friday, May 22 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and form 9:30 until the service Saturday at the church. Burial will be in St. Wencel's Church Cemetery in Neva.
