On October 13, 2021 Robert Charles Hunter was given the gift of eternal life. Bob was born in Antigo, WI on April 15, 1946 to Thomas and Lorraine (Boettcher) Hunter. He graduated from Antigo High School in 1964. He attended North Dakota State University where he was a member of the 1965 National Championship Football Team, a first for NDSU. He met his wife and best friend Nancy Neuman during their time as students at NDSU in Fargo, ND. They were married on March 8, 1969. He returned to Antigo with his family in 1978. Bob’s time here on Earth was spent loving his family and friends. His commitment to serving his community and his church were the pillar of his character. In 1982 he and David Parsons formed the Chevrolet-Buick dealership in Antigo. He spent 30 years as the chairman of Antigo’s police and fire commission. He played an integral role in securing finances for the construction of Antigo’s new high school in the early 1990s. From 2008-2014 Bob served as the president of the congregation at Peace Lutheran Church. His personality was larger than life. He loved spending time playing golf and taking laps around Upper Clear Lake on their pontoon boat with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Nancy, their sons Jason (Carol) Oconomowoc, WI; Jed (Kristy) Milwaukee, WI; John (Jessica Filbrandt) Antigo, WI; Brother Thomas Lee Hunter, Summit Lake, WI; 4 grandchildren Caitlin, Jackson, Veronica and Evelyn; sister-in-law Jane Hunter, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother Michael Thomas Hunter, mother and father-in-law Oz and Bev Neuman, and brother-in-law John (Jeanne) Neuman. Services will be officiated by Pastor David Karolus at Peace Lutheran Church, 300 Lincoln St. Antigo on Monday October 25, 2021. Visitation 9AM to noon with a service to follow at noon. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Bob’s name.
