Robert D. "Swampfox" Schave

Robert D. "Swampfox" Schave, age 80, of Deerbrook died Tuesday at Langlade Hospital.Mr. Schave was born December 19, 1930 in Wausau, WI to the late Raymond and Leona (Kummerow) Schave.In 1953 he married Jan Dagestad; they later divorced. He married Glenda Mielke on May 25, 1963. They later divorced, remaining friends and sharing many wonderful times together. Mr. Schave had lived in Mosinee, Athens and later moved to Antigo.He had worked as a police officer, car salesman at Vieguts Chevrolet, was a monument cutter for Norde Memorial, and then worked for the Department of Natural Resources as a wild life technician, he retired in 1988.He served in the US Army in Germany. He entered into service September of 1950 and was discharged as a corporal September of 1953.Bob was an outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and building wood duck houses. He also fixed clocks as a hobby. He enjoyed people and the time he spent with friends at the Dixie Lunch.Survivors include 2 sons Robert Jr. (Rosamie) of St. Peter, MN and William (Trinnette) of Alaska; 2 daughters; Rhoda (John) Zupon of Deerbrook, Melissa (Roy) Gallenberg of Bryant; 11 grandchildren; Gabriel, and Mark (Shawnee) Schave; Jennifer, Philip, Farrah, and Jarod Schave, Carissa Zupon, Katy, Kimberly , Maggie, and Ryan Gallenberg; two great-grandchildren, Scotland Schave and Sydney Louze, sisters; Yvonne Ames of Schofield, Judy (Robert) Breitenbach of Shawano, Karen (Wally) Ninnenmann of Sommerset, KY; 2 brothers; Glenn (significant other Linda Gutowski) of Wausau and Raymond (Judy) of Park Falls, WI; 2 brother-in-laws; Earl (LuAnn) Louze of Wausau and Gordon Dehnke of Wisconsin. He is also survived by his dog Fox.He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and very special friends and staff at the Dixie Lunch.Mr. Schave was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Georgiana Louze and Lois Dehnke; 2 nephews and a great nephew and his dog Eddie.Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 PM until 6:30 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 6:30 PM with friend, Max Morehouse, officiating. Military Honors will be held at the funeral home following the service. Memorials will be directed toward the Arbor Day Foundation in memory of Bob.As Bob would say, "Gotta blast!"
