Robert G. Raith

Robert G. Raith, of Antigo died Friday, March 25, 2011 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. He was 76 years old.He was born June 13, 1934 in Summit Lake, WI, son of the late Joseph and Beatrice (Elliott) Raith. He married Lorraine Shepherd on May 24, 1958, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 4, 2003. He later married Cleora Lacque Beyer on July 24, 2004, and she survives. Mr. Raith graduated from Elcho High School, and formerly resided in Rhinelander. He served in the US Air Force, stationed in Greenland. While in the Air Force, he stood honor guard for president Dwight D. Eisenhower. He was a member of the Carpenters Union, and a supervisor for Boldt Construction. Mr. Raith was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Antigo. He belonged to the VFW and Lions Club in Tomahawk. He also was a judo black belt, and taught the Rhinelander Police Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, woodworking, helping people with projects. He was an excellent cement worker.Survivors, in addition to his wife, include 3 daughters, Theresa (Mark) Lammert of Rhinelander, and Lori Bergman of Rhinelander, and Julie (Ken) Reitz of Timbergreen, NC; 3 sons, Bob (Mary) Raith of Kissimmee, FL, Jeff Raith of Rhinelander, Dave Raith of Rhinelander; a stepson, John Beyer and his family of Antigo; 3 sisters, Inez Hartl of Payet, ID, Mary (Dale) Tucker of Antigo, and Grace (Chuck) Cruz of Chicago, IL; 5 brothers, Jim of Hustisford, Pat (Cynthia) of Summit Lake, Tom (Debbie) of Sussex, Rudy (Mary Ann) of Belmont, MO, and Don of Summit Lake; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and special friend, Jeff Johnson. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Raith; a son, Thomas Raith; a granddaughter, Bethany; 3 sisters, Imagene Bowman, Ella Mertis, and Joan McCabe; and 2 brothers, Pete and Wayne.A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Mon. at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael Spaude officiating. Visitation will be 10-11 Mon. at the funeral home.
