Roger Paul Wagnes of Antigo, passed away on December 7, 2021 at his home under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice. He was 78 years old. Roger was born on September 30, 1943 to the late Irwin and Clara (Andersen) Wagnes in Brooklyn, NY where his family grew up. Roger served in the U.S. Army. While serving, he resided in Salem Ohio and graduated from Salem West High School. Following his service, he moved to Wisconsin. In May of 1968, he was united in marriage to Diane Bula. She survives. Roger was a quiet guy who if he opened up and called you ‘friend’, you were special and had a loyal buddy for life. He was known to affectionately nickname friends and family. He was a big animal lover and spent much of his life working and enjoying his model trains and his collection of motorcycles. Nothing ever quite compared to his fierce love for his grand babies. Nothing made this man smile more than spending time with the kids. It wasn’t even known entirely if Roger had teeth until the first grandchild was born. In addition to Roger’s wife, he is survived by daughters; Nikki (Andrew Spangberg) Olson of Wausau and Jamie (Shane) Lund of Antigo, grandchildren; Dustin (Ashley) Lund, Savannah Wagnes, Bailey (Natasha Voytovich) Olson, and Sam Lund. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by a son Scott Wagnes. He also had a sister, Pam Yakubek, that followed him in death on December 8, the very next morning after Roger’s passing. A visitation for Roger Wagnes will be held on Friday, January 7 from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. So dad, now that you’re reunited with your son, I hope you two hop in a GTO or on a couple of Vmax motorcycles and burn around the streets of heaven together and have some cold brews afterwards. Rest easy, dad. The man, the myth, the legend Papa Roger
