Samuel Wayne Wierzba passed away on October 28, 2023 at home, surrounded by family and under the care of LeRoyer Hospice, following a short, but brave battle with Cancer in which he had hope until the very end. He was 48 years old.
Sam was born on May 31, 1975 in Menomonee Falls, son of Frank Sr. and Althea (Blanchette) Wierzba.
Sam married the love of his life, Angie Bricko, on March 21, 2014 in Antigo.
Following high school, Sam went on to train as a journeyman carpenter, most recently working for Appleton Lathing Corporation.
Sam enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all, he loved spending time with family, which often included a day of garage sales or driving them wherever they may need. Sam was known to always lend a helping hand. He was a hard worker and always willing to help with projects.
In addition to his parents and wife, Sam is survived by children Shana (Brad) Volkman, Casey Anstutz (Dillen), Alexis Holland (Blake), Maddie Wierzba, and Marcus Wierzba, grandchildren Bentley, Micah, Baby Volkman, and Baby Clara, mother-in-law Ruth Bricko, siblings Dawn Whitney, James (Lisa) O’laughlin, Steven (Sigrid) O’laughlin, Nikki (Jeff ‘Clyde’) Nievinski, Kurt (Megan) Wierzba, Audra (Jamie) Deruchowski, Megan (Dana) Faulks, Jake (Dezi) Wierzba, and Jim Kolinski and sister-in-law Cassie Wierzba.
Sam was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Jr, sister Kelly, grandson Jaxson, father-in-law Don, and biological mother Nancy.
During Sam’s battle with cancer, he asked a favor. He said if things didn’t go well and he was called to be with Jesus, he asked that we honor him by showing kindness to all. When we see someone struggling, be the hand to help them. You never know how the universe is using you to answer someone’s prayers.
A memorial service for Sam will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, Antigo with Pastor Fletcher Larson officiating. Visitation will take place at the church, prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Those attending are asked to wear their hunting or fishing attire in remembrance of Sam’s passion for hunting and fishing.
