Scott W. Erickson

November 26, 1958 — October 14, 2024

How great it is to love someone so very much that letting go is so very hard.

Scott W. Erickson, age 65 of Antigo, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024 , surrounded by his family. He was under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care.

Scott was born on November 26, 1958 in Milwaukee to the late Donn and Elizabeth (Riewe) Erickson. He attended Sussex Hamilton High School where he played basketball and helped his team make a state tournament appearance. He graduated in 1976. He continued his basketball career and education at UW Platteville and then UW Stevens Point where he graduated in 1981. While attending UW Platteville, Scott met Cindy and their love story began. Scott and Cindy married on July 11, 1981 at The Redeemer Church of Christ in Sussex. He continued his education at the Harvard Business Management and Development Program, graduating in 1994.

Scott worked for Sunspiced Inc in Plover for 9 years before moving to Idaho for 6 years, eventually becoming Vice President of Sales. He and Cindy then moved their family to Antigo, where Scott worked for Volm Companies for 22 years, retiring as Vice President of Equipment Sales in 2019.

Scott’s strong faith carried him throughout his life, especially with his most recent health challenges. He always believed in God’s plan. Scott was a member of St. John Catholic Church. Scott was always community minded and was a true asset to the Antigo Community. He was a very active member of Kiwanis. He served on the boards of the Boys and Girls Club, Antigo/Langlade County Chamber of Commerce, All Saints Catholic School and Center Court Basketball Club. He also co-founded Antigo Little Red Robin Basketball.

Scott was a dedicated and loving husband, dad, father-in-law, papa, brother, and friend. He had a way with words and a knack for creative nicknames. He loved spending time at the lake and cruising to his playlist on the pontoon. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially working in the woods. He had a talent for home renovation and woodworking projects. He loved participating in and watching sports, but nothing compared to seeing his kids and grandkids compete. His family always knew he was there cheering them on by the sound of his whistle in the crowd. Scott’s passion for cycling and dedication to supporting others extended to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society Scenic Shore 150 bicycle ride. For several years, you could find Scott having the time of his life riding his Harley with the wind at his back, and perhaps he is again.

In addition to his wife Cindy, Scott is survived by children; Amy (Joe) Stephenson of Wauwatosa, Andrea Tuttle of De Pere, and Jake Erickson of Antigo, grandchildren; Olive and Wescott Stephenson and Isabella and Everly Tuttle, sister; Wendy (Ken) Trinko of Sullivan, father-in-law; Don Wagner, sister-in-law; Michele (Dennis) Miller, and brothers-in-law; Donny (Bobbie von Asten) Wagner and John Wagner, and many nieces and nephews. Scott is also survived by his beloved dog, Ginger. Ginger became Scott’s constant companion, always watching over him.

In addition to his parents, Scott was preceded in death by his brother David Erickson, sister Linnea Style, and mother-in-law Frances “Franny” Wagner.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Scott will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 3:00 PM at St. John Catholic Church, Antigo with Father Joel Sember and Father Charles Hoffman officiating. Visitation will take place at the church prior to the mass from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Scott’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the medical team with Aspirus Wausau Hospital, especially the ICU and Comfort Care teams, for their care, comfort, and kindness during this most difficult time.
