Shirley Peterson

January 4, 1950 — May 8, 2024

Shirley Peterson of Antigo, a Menominee Nation member, passed away unexpectedly May 8th at home at the age of 74.


Shirley is survived by three children; Sheila (Dan) Kainz of Tomahawk, Mike (Mary Koss) Peterson of Antigo and Kathy Hill Peterson of Mattoon, four grandchildren; Nick Krimmer, Levi Krimmer, Katelyn Hill Peterson and Stephanie Bessert, four great grandchildren; Aliyah Krimmer, Elianna Krimmer, Oliver Bessert and Chloe Bessert, a sister-in-law; Judy Peterson of White Lake and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband James “Don” Peterson, her mother Margaret Wesho Hill, stepfather John Hill, mother-in-law Audrey Peterson, brother-in-law Dave Peterson and 6 siblings.


Shirley was born Jan 4, 1950 in Keshena to Margaret Wesho and married James “Don” Peterson on Dec 7, 1968 at Peace Lutheran Church where she remained a member.


Shirley was a kind, caring, selfless wife, mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to the ones she loved. A one-of-a-kind soul who brought so much happiness and joy to the lives of her family and friends. To be loved by her was a true blessing felt by all. The family is deeply saddened by the unexpected loss. We will always carry her memory in our hearts and be forever grateful for the time we had together.


A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
