Stephen Francis McCormick, age 72, passed away unexpectedly at his home. Stephen was born July 3, 1948, to the late Francis and Viola (Sheldon) McCormick in Antigo. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, graduated from Antigo High School and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree at University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in 1971. Stephen majored in International Studies minored in Political Science with an emphasis in Spanish. In 1971 Stephen entered the Air Force and was stationed in San Antonio, Texas and Ogden, Utah. After his years in the service Mr. McCormick worked at Copps and then for Sheldon’s, Inc. for almost 20 years. His was devoted to his pets, enjoyed amateur writing and “the fights” such as boxing, mixed martial arts, and amateur wrestling. As a child Steve’s nickname was “Little Bear” later people called him “Rocky”. He was a vegetarian from the age of 47. Stephen liked music and was a big fan of the Beatles, he also liked classic rock, Latino tropical and easy listening music. He enjoyed watching TV as well. Stephen was a jogger from age 22 to age 62. He had a passion for the environment and animal welfare issues. Steve believed in The Golden Rule and did his best to live his life by it. Steve is survived by his brother Robert (Judy) McCormick. In addition to his parents Steve is preceded in death by a sister Colette McCormick. Private graveside services were held at Elmwood Cemetery. Strasser-Roller Funeral Home is assisting the family.
