Sueellen Margaret Zalewski

Sue E. Zalewski, Pelican Lake/Eagle River, WI, passed away peacefully Friday November 26th, 2021 in Arizona at Oro Valley Hospital. She was 75 years old. Sue was born in Wisconsin Rapids on April 28, 1946 to the late Merle & Mary Ellen (Reader) Wendt. She graduated from Antigo High School in 1965. On March 4, 1967, she married Ron Zalewski and he survives. Ron and Sue owned and operated Ron Zalewski Farms Inc until retirement in 2001. She quickly became known as “Gramma Sue” to so many people as she enjoyed taking care of and spending time with her 4 grandsons. These boys filled her days and her heart. Family meant everything to our very loving and unselfish wife, mom, grandma, sister & cousin. Sue was a member of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo and St. Peter the Fisherman in Eagle River. She spent her summers in Pelican Lake and Eagle River, WI and her winters in Green Valley, AZ. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son Ronnie (Bobbi Braun), Antigo, and a daughter Jennifer (Brian) Hissom, Eagle River; 2 sisters, Denise Wendt, Antigo, and Barbara (Tim) Fermanich, Antigo; sister in law Jackie (Rick) Kjome, Boise, ID. Gramma Sue is further survived by 4 grandsons: Lane (Makayla) Zalewski, Logan Hissom, Luke Hissom and Levi Hissom. Sue is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. In addition to her parents, Sue was proceeded in death by her beloved son, Steven Merle; father-in-law & mother-in-law Stanley “Steve” & Sally Zalewski; three brothers-in-law Stanley (Shirley) Zalewski; Marvin (Jeane) Zalewski; Jim Zalewski. Sue was cremated in Arizona and will spend her last winter there. She loved her AZ winters! In the spring of 2022, she will be buried next to Steve at Bent Cemetery in Bryant, WI. A celebration of life will follow. Sue was a person of faith who loved the Lord. She said the rosary every morning and knew that one day, she would be with Steve again. The family does find comfort knowing the reunion between mother and son was one of pure joy and love. A memorial mass for Sue will be held on May 13, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Ss. Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church. A visitation will take place prior to the service at the church from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Sue’s name for Wounded Warriors will be established. This charity is just one of many that Sue has supported throughout the years. We ask for prayers for this wonderful person we lost on earth. We love and miss her so very much.
