Thomas Joseph Steffens

Thomas Joseph Steffens, age 71, died Friday, April 28, 2023 at Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital. Tom was born on October 23, 1951 to the late Gordon and Catherine (Baker) Steffens in Neenah, WI.

Tom graduated from Menasha High School in 1970. His passion for the earth and its rocks began as a youngster. This led him to pursue degrees that would lead to his career as a petroleum geologist. He received his bachelor's degree from U-W Oshkosh and his master’s degree from U-W Milwaukee. He was a petroleum geologist, working in Texas. He later returned to Wisconsin, residing in Pickerel.

Tom loved boating and was a member of a yacht club while living in Texas. He also enjoyed fishing, kayaking, collecting guns, and attending concerts.

Survivors include his sister Mary (Larry) Laehn of Milton, 3 brothers: Ron (Julie) of Pickerel, Dennis (Marge) of Caroline, Joe (Rocky) of Pickerel and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by a brother Gary.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 3:00 pm with visitation from 1:00 pm until the service at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Townsend.
