Veneta Ethel Winters, of Antigo, died Sat. Sept. 19 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation. She was 92 years old.She was born Nov. 16, 1916 in Marathon County, daughter of the late Bernhardt and Clara (Nietzel) Trantow. On Nov. 12, 1932 she married Henry Winters in the Town of Easton, and he preceded her in death in June 2001.Mrs. Winters owned and operated Winters Resort Shop in Manitowish Waters for 11 years. She then moved to Antigo in 1976, operating Winters Bridal Shop for 10 years.She was a member of the Town of Texas Women's Club. She was also active in the Republican Party, serving on the precinct committee in Manitowish Waters, and as Vilas County chairperson.Survivors include 2 daughters, Josie Mach of Mobile, AL, Arlyce (Edward) Rheingrover of Selmer, TN; a son Ronald Winters of Marinette; a sister, Lavina Sleeter of Wausau; a brother, ElRoy (Sylvia) of Wausau; 12 grandchildren, Lana Gray who also served as Veneta's caregiver, Tom Mach, Lisa Ourada, Lynn Mach, Mitch Dumask, Mark Dumask, Marty Dumask, Ron Winters, Lance Winters, Paul Winters, Sean Winters, and Kurt Winters; 18 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.Mrs. Winters was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry; a son, Henry Jr.; a grandson, Jeff Mach; 2 brothers; and 4 sisters.The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Mary Jo, Sharon, and Donna at Eastview for their loving care.
